Planning to Seek ERISA Qualification for 403(b) Plan – by Purchasing Behavior - % of Total Not Qualified Under ERISA is a chart taken from Spectrem's Non For Profit - Private K-12 report.
Non For Profit - Private K-12 report OVERVIEW
The private K-12 segment accounts for the second largest number of plan sponsors in the not-for-profit market. Overall, there are 15,200 private K-12 schools in the U.S. Most of these are small organizations. Only about half, or 7,445, have an enrollment of 250 or more. It is these institutions that are the subject of this survey.
Over three-quarters of these institutions have less than 100 employees and 16% have 100-499. Because of small sample sizes, the remaining 8%, those having 500+ employees, are the largest size category considered in this report. Two-thirds of these institutions offer their employees a 403(b) plan and 37% offer a defined benefit (DB) plan. Less than 5% offer other types of plans. Overall, 9% offer two or more retirement plans; 5% offering both a DB plan and a 403(b), and 4% offering a 403(b) plan in conjunction with either a 401(a) or 401(k) plan.
